The Woodward Alumni Hall of Fame Association

Ray Saba was the co-owner of the Centre Supermarket chain in Toledo for 30 years. He has been active as a member of St. George Orthodox Church.

For many years, WHS football teams did not play their home games on "Woodward soil". Ray's efforts helped change that. The WHS football stadium, which is located in back of the school on Central Avenue, was built in 1969. The construction was financed with funds raised through donations. Ray was instrumental in completing the stadium by providing the sod and landscaping. He also helped with the scoreboard and painting. Woodward staff members recall the hard work Ray put into this worthwhile effort. Ray did not seek recognition for this accomplishment then, and continues in that mode today.
